Marketing is natural, but sometimes you have to ask whose stupid idea it was to do something like this…?
The Croatian Post announced that it will be releasing limited edition PlayStation stamps from February 22. These will feature some of the most popular characters of the moment, such as Kratos, Atreus, Aloy, Ratchet, Clank, Rivet, Ellie, and Joel, and will be used on stamps that (if our language skills are up to snuff) can be used on mail items weighing up to 50 grams, due to the B value marking. On the first day, some commemorative envelopes will also be available.
In all, Croatia Post plans to release 50,000 stamps, including God of War (or more specifically, God of War: Ragnarök), Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Horizon Forbidden West, and The Last of Us (again, you may want to be more specific: The Last of Us Part I) fans should be quick, because likely, the big hype will get a lot of people interested in the stamps, and they almost certainly won’t be stuck on envelopes as intended, but will end up in stamp collections and PlayStation fans’ collections—Alenka Lalić, who specializes in designing commemorative stamps, designed these stamps. As expected, PlayStation’s Croatian subsidiary also contributed to the project.
In any case, it has to be said that we did not expect this marketing stunt from Sony because it is still challenging to identify the PlayStation brand with stamps, even though it is known all over the world. However, there have been other strange or unusual marketing moves by Sony recently, as structures linked to PlayStation 5 have appeared in several cities in several countries. The easier, more natural accessibility of PlayStation 5 has led to the Live from PS5 ad campaign on television (it likely runs worldwide).
