Silent Hill f: What The F Does The f Stand For In The Title?

While we welcomed the return of Silent Hill, we’re still dubious about several things.

Not only that, the Silent Hill 2 remake is being worked on by the Bloober Team (the announcement was no surprise, as it’s one of the worst-kept secrets in the gaming industry), while the PC version is shaping up quite nicely as a modern remaster, but also that NeoBards (Resident Evil: Resistance, Resident Evil Re:Verse) is working on Silent Hill f, which Konami revealed as little as possible last year when it unveiled the projects in the franchise. (One thing left out: a demo of Silent Hill: The Short Message for PlayStation 5 leaked from the PlayStation Store database. What will that be?)

Last October, we wrote this about Silent Hill f: “Ryukishi07 writes the story. The characters and creature design is done by Kera and produced by Motoi Okamoto (the ex-Nintendo veteran might slam the devs’ table if things don’t go as they should). The official description is: “Silent Hill f will be a completely new story set in 1960s Japan featuring a beautiful yet horrifying world. Written by Ryukishi07, famed for Japanese visual novels dealing with murder mysteries, psychological and supernatural horror.””

The teaser asked far more questions than it could answer. Neobards creative director Al Yang wrote on Twitter that he was curious to know what we think the f in the game’s name stands for, and there’s a bet on it within the studio, as the developers have placed a wager on what fans think the letter stands for. The answers included the words: fungus, fate, flower, five, and forte (no game has been released under the name Silent Hill 5…), the latter being a musical term for powerful performance, spelled with a small f…

But it’s also possible that the developers were referring to Old English so that the f could be a medieval letter S, so maybe it’s a resurrection of Silent Hills…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
