TECH NEWS – Google has launched Bard, a rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, with an early access approach.
Google announced in a blog post that Bard is available for trial but in a limited form. It will not be available to everyone immediately, as Google has set up a waiting list, and registration is required. According to the tech company, the technology is not intended to retire Google’s search engine. Still, it will be seen as a complementary tool next to it when searching for something simple.
Users will be able to write down commands that the AI will respond to, and Google says we will get answers to questions, ideas, outlined things, and simple and meaningful answers to more complex topics; it’s almost identical to what Nvidia-powered (and Microsoft-backed) ChatGPT offers its users.
Google Bard will not always have the correct answer. The company has implemented “guardrails” to prevent it from becoming too widespread should a bug occur. For this reason, you can see the AI’s other answers by clicking on the “view other drafts” button. The technology will generate a new reply if it receives the same question but will display three solutions, so you don’t have to ask the same question again. Google takes the search engine non-replacement thought so seriously that you can search traditionally with a “Google it” button to get the correct answer.
According to Google, Bard will not be capable of conversations, but users can rate responses and report any unsafe or offensive replies. The technology is currently only available in English in the United States and the United Kingdom. You can sign up to try the technology here if Google eventually starts testing it elsewhere and you aren’t from the two countries, as mentioned earlier.
