More and More People are Choosing OLED TVs at Home

TECH NEWS – LG also presented its 2023 OLED product line in Hungary, which includes bendable display and design screens. This year, the company has held a leading position in the OLED TV market for 10 years, and while it has already sold more than 15 million OLED TVs worldwide, it closed its most successful year in Hungary last year in terms of the category of OLED screens sold.

LG has been pioneering OLED technology for 10 years, which opened a new chapter in television in 2013. The innovative technology made it possible to produce displays where, unlike other panel types, the pixels do not need a separate backlight, thus the TV is able to display perfect black. In addition to the many advantages of the development, it made it possible to produce televisions with thinner and lighter panels than ever before, even with bendable or curved panels, which, in addition to the extremely realistic image and rich contrast, also provide perfect viewing from a wide viewing angle.

Since the release of the world’s first 55-inch Full HD OLED TV in 2013, LG has continued to expand the possibilities offered by OLED technology and has collected many accolades from the very beginning, including winning the CES Innovation Award for 11 consecutive years. At the end of last year, the company already exceeded 15 million copies of this display type sold.

In 2023, many new products will arrive on the Hungarian market

On the occasion of the 10-year anniversary, LG also presented its latest OLED product line here. The improved G3 and C3 series displays of this year’s OLED range were also introduced, which provide users with greater brightness and color fidelity, as well as better clarity and detail thanks to LG OLED evo technology and the 6th generation α9 artificial intelligence processor.

One of the special features of the palette is the LG Flex (LX3) gaming TV, which is the world’s first 42-inch OLED device with adjustable curvature. The curvature of the large display of the LX3 can be bent from completely flat to spectacularly curved, so you can choose the ideal curvature of the screen from twenty different options.

The special screen of the LG Objet Collection series was designed for lovers of unique design solutions. The device named Posé is made unique by its beige frame and soft outer fabric covering, which can serve as an elegant accessory in any environment. The rounded edges and soft lines give the device a clean, natural appearance, which has won the world’s most prestigious design awards for its uniqueness.

The company also presented the latest representatives of its premium category UltraGear™ OLED monitor series, the 27GR95QE and 45GR95QE models. The new models equipped with the world’s first 240 Hz OLED panel exclusively manufactured by LG have a record low response time, and thanks to precise, lifelike colors and infinite contrast, they meet the expectations of gaming monitors by customers in every respect.

The domestic OLED market is growing dynamically

In Hungary, there was no significant increase in the volume of televisions sold between 2014 and 2022, and in fact, after the leap years of 2018 and 2020, the fewest televisions were sold in Hungary in 2022. Despite this, OLED displays are becoming more and more popular every year according to data from GfK Hungária Kft. [1]: showing continuous, dynamic growth since 2014, by 2022 nearly 25,000 OLED displays were sold annually.

At the same time, the technology is also carving out an ever-larger slice of the market for premium televisions with an average price of HUF 400,000. Today, more than half (55.2%) of the displays sold in this segment are OLED, while in 2014 only slightly more than 100 In 3 (3.3%) cases, customers walked to the checkout with this type of TV in their cart.

The fact that televisions of this type are available to a wider range of people also plays a role in the increase in demand for OLED here, as the prices have fallen by almost half (by 46%) in 8 years. While in 2014, those who wanted such a TV had to pay an average price of almost 870,000 forints, in 2022 even 470,000 forints was enough.

In addition to the fall in prices, demand has been positively affected by an expanding range of products. From 2015 to 2019, domestic consumer enthusiasm for OLED TVs with a diagonal of more than 60 inches grew steadily – 4 years ago, nearly one in three consumers was looking for an OLED TV of this size. Since 2020, smaller sizes have become increasingly popular, with more and more consumers looking for TVs in the 45-54 inch category. But the 55-59 inch range continues to top the sales charts, with no change since 2014.
