TECH NEWS – The graphics card, based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, is now available in some European markets for under €600.
The price cut is also newsworthy because Nvidia launched its GeForce RTX 4070 cards two weeks ago, so it’s still a new product. However, German stores have started to sell the GPU for under €600, as consumers are still reluctant to buy the graphics card because they fear its poor value for money and they can buy a better product from rivals (both AMD and Intel can put a better offer on the table).
The price cut affects the reference cards (Founders Edition) and the custom-built models from third-party manufacturers. According to Tom’s Hardware, three cards have sold out (Nvidia’s reference card and Asus’ Dual GPU product are among them) and have a suggested retail price of $600. It used to be that when AMD and Nvidia came out with a new product, they were hard to come by because gamers would quickly stock up. However, while we hear that RTX 4070 production is more limited, we still have Nvidia’s GPU in stock, which is close to the performance of the RTX 3080, but is more efficient, has more VRM, and supports DLSS 3.
The Gainward RTX 4070 Ghost is 599 euros in Germany from online retailer Alternate. Cards from Palit, Gigabyte, and Inno3D are in the €625-645 range, but it’s almost certain that they’ll be pulling the price of their cards down after Gainward. In the US, we don’t see much of a price drop like this, with perhaps OC models dropping by $20 at best. This will likely remain the case until Computex, where Nvidia is rumored to launch the RTX 4060 Ti in May, which is intended to rival AMD’s Radeon RX 7600.
Meanwhile, in our country, the cheapest RTX 4070 can be bought in a local shop for the equivalent of €735. No comment.
