The game will still run on the original minimum specifications, but not as well as before, according to CD Projekt RED.
We now know when Cyberpunk 2077’s only keg will be released, and it will leave the previous console generation behind. On its website, the Polish studio says that this will also mean that PC system requirements will go up: “The changes to the minimum requirements are a reflection of our new standard of requirements, which we believe better represent the minimum PC configuration required to run the game at 1080p while maintaining an average of 30 FPS at low preset. The reason for making these changes is that updating the requirements is an important part of the game improvement process and of enhancing and adding new features.”
Even symbolically, HDD support is over. The old mechanical hard drives will still run the game, but not as well. It will be choppy. SSDs are no longer recommended but will be required. Updates will no longer be tested on HDD configurations. (We should add that a reasonable 1 TB SSD with DRAM cache can be bought for about $50…) We are already seeing the same with Starfield.
But let’s see the system requirements…
System requirements without ray tracing:
- Minimum system requirements (low graphics preset, 1080p resolution, expected FPS: ~30):
