TECH NEWS – Twitch, the popular online streaming platform, is introducing new tags to mark adult content. However, the question arises: how seriously will the mediators take these new signals?”
Twitch, the popular worldwide streaming platform, has introduced new changes aimed at making the platform more secure. The new marking system aims to highlight adult content so that users can make a more informed decision about what content they watch. This idea, especially with the proliferation of bathing, gambling and other live broadcasts, seems good.
Content producers can now use the following new tags to indicate what kind of content they offer:
- Adult Video Games
- Sexual themes
- Drugs, alcohol and smoking
- Violence
- Rude comments and language
- Game of chance
We’re rolling out new Content Classification Labels to clarify when streamers should label their streams, and to give viewers more info about the content they see.

Thanks to these tags, content producers can give their broadcasts a more specific mark. However, it’s important to note that Twitch hasn’t changed its community guidelines, which means there’s no penalty for someone mistagging your show. While Twitch can issue warnings and make up for missing nominations, the lack of serious penalties begs the question of how seriously streamers will take this new system.
The changes were partly necessary in order for Twitch to protect younger viewers. On the other hand, it will also be easier for advertisers to decide which live broadcast to support.
