During an interview with ComicBook, Joey Batey, Freya Allen, and Anya Chalotra were asked about their thoughts on Henry Cavill’s departure from the series and its possible impact on the upcoming Season 4. Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer, expressed her excitement about Liam Hemsworth joining the cast as Geralt. He acknowledged the significance of Cavill’s departure and that it would be a “bizarre” experience without him. Still, Chalotra remained optimistic about the future of the series, sharing his enthusiasm for the new direction The Witcher will take with Hemsworth’s portrayal of the iconic character. He put it like this:

“Excited. Yeah, I can’t wait to have Liam on board. Well, he is, but to meet him and for him to be Geralt. It’s going to be bizarre, and I feel like I’m definitely going to feel that loss. I think we all we will feel it.”

Last October, fans were surprised when it was announced that Henry Cavill was leaving the role of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher. The unexpected twist was brought by the news that Liam Hemsworth will replace Cavill. The Witcher producer Tomek Baginski revealed the transition, calling the plan “meta” and deeply rooted in Andrzej Sapkowski’s original source material. Baginski hinted that there is a significant connection between the new vision of Geralt and the ideas in the fifth book. He explained:

“We have a very, very good plan for Liam and I to introduce the new Geralt and our new vision of Geralt. I won’t go into those ideas because that would be a huge spoiler, but it’s also very, very close. to the meta-ideas that are deeply embedded in the books, especially in the fifth book”.

“I’ve been in touch with him. We’ve emailed and exchanged favorite quotes from the books and stuff. I don’t think either of us is in a position to give advice on how to play Geralt, but he throws himself into it. His training regimen is insane and devoured the books”.

The first volume of the third season of The Witcher premiered on June 29 on Netflix, while the second volume is expected to arrive on the streaming platform on July 27.
