MOVIE NEWS – With the first part of Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning now in cinemas, fans are ready to see how Ethan Hunt’s journey ends in the second part.
Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One has arrived in cinemas, and it’s off to a great start. But fans already know that this is not the end of the journey for Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt. With the second part already confirmed, many are wondering how the team is doing on the project. Director Chris McQuarrie was kind enough to provide an update on the highly anticipated sequel. It appears that the project is on track for a 2024 release.
During a press tour, McQuarrie was asked about the upcoming sequel and when the crew will return to work. “We hit the ground running as soon as we get back,” he told Variety. Once the tour ends, the crew plan to scout some locations “on the way back to the UK”. Fans have speculated that the crew may take a break after a long press tour.
“We’re right back into it. I get two days vacation between here and Tokyo, and I’m right back on it,” McQuarrie said. Apparently, finishing the project is his top priority; something fans will be eagerly awaiting.
When it was first announced that Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning would be filmed back-to-back, it was revealed that. However, due to Cruise’s busy schedule and the release of Top Gun: Maverick, the filming schedule for M:I 7 and 8 had to be changed. According to McQuarrie, it seems that they are still looking for locations to shoot parts of the film. The seventh film has also been delayed due to the pandemic, and the release dates for both movies have been pushed back. Now that the first part has been released, fans are looking forward to the final chapter of Hunt’s journey.
The first film in the franchise, released in 1996, launched Cruise’s journey as Hunt. He has since become a fan favourite character. At the time, the 34-year-old Cruise probably didn’t think the franchise would span more than three decades. Although it has had its ups and downs, Cruise’s performance as Hunt has been highly regarded over the seven films to date. Recent films in the franchise have been successful at the box office. How Hunt’s journey will end next year remains to be seen.
