The rating of Ubisoft’s game may have made a mistake in its overview, but in the meantime, we can now be confident that the French publisher has no plans for DLCs.
Last year, Assassin’s Creed: Mirage was wrongly rated AO (adults only), a rarely used rating, but this time, the US age rating board ESRB has put the French company’s game in the M category, meaning it is recommended for adults. However, there is an interesting phrase in the game’s description which might be a mistake on the part of the board, but it could be a clue to a twist in the story!
“This is an action-adventure game in which players assume the role of a thief/assassin battling a secret order in ancient Baghdad. Players explore open-world environments while performing missions (e.g., searching for items, battling enemies) and using stealth to kill human targets. Players use swords, daggers, arrows, and a concealed blade to kill soldiers, guards, and boss characters in frenetic melee-style combat. Fights are highlighted by screams of pain and frequent blood-splatter effects. Cutscenes also depict instances of violence: a bound prisoner stabbed slowly through the chest, a victim assassinated by hanging. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” appear in the game,” wrote the ESRB currently on its site, but earlier in the synopsis, “fellow assassins” appeared instead of “guards!”
The original sentence in question was, “Players use swords, daggers, arrows, and a concealed blade to kill soldiers, fellow assassins, and boss characters in frenetic melee-style combat.” Either the ESRB made a mistake, or Ubisoft told them to change the synopsis quickly, but it’s too late now because we reported it. So it could be a significant twist in the story, but it’s not official yet.
Stéphane Boudon, the creative director of the game that is confirmed to launch on October 12 on PlayStation 5, Xbox
Series, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, confirmed in a Reddit AMA, that there are currently no plans for Assassin’s Creed: Mirage DLC or extended post-launch support…
