The Two Best Weapons Have Been Weakened In Remnant II

Gunfire Games felt that the two weapons in the action RPG may have been overpowered and would be better weakened.

Many bugs have been fixed, and the quality of life also improved with the recent significant Remnant II update. Still, more importantly, Gunfire Games has done the nerfing (weakening) to Nightfall and Enigma after players quickly realized, almost within hours, that a large portion of the weapon arsenal was negligible, as these two firearms were ahead of the rest in every way.

The Nightfall is a hefty weapon that can be obtained by defeating the Nightweaver, but the nerf has reduced its rate of fire in both base and Dreadwalker modes, meaning it fires fewer rounds. According to the developers, the rate of fire was cut back because the weapon caused too much damage. The more powerful alternatives with the active mods also caused about 20% lower DPS (damage per second), so they decided to slow Nightfall down.

The other weapon involved is the Enigma handgun. So far, this weapon has been considered by players as the best choice for close combat. Gunfire Games felt that its area of effect was too effective, so the AOE’s burst damage in Overload mode was lowered from 40 to 30, and its tether damage was also lowered from 75% to 65%. The gun was also weakened in other ways: the previous thirty-round magazine was reduced to twenty-five (ah yes, don’t you love shrinkflation?), and the five removed rounds were moved to the reserve, bringing the total to 125. The studio will continue to modify the Enigma, so it is just the start: the weapon ignores enemy armor, so this passive skill will probably also leave Remnant II.

According to audience feedback, Nightfall and Enigma remain Remnant II’s two best weapons. With this move, the studio has perhaps made the rest of the weapon arsenal more noteworthy, and thus the gameplay could be more varied.
