TECH NEWS – There’s not much difference between Apple’s recently released flagship phone and Samsung’s soon-to-be-replaced one.
We’ve already reported on two comparisons made by PhoneBuff between the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: first the crash test and then the benchmark test. The difference in battery life (how long it takes to drain the battery) between the two phones is not that great, but again, Apple came out on top. In the one-hour call test, the top iPhone 15 may not have given an accurate percentage, as its PhoneBuff phone recorded 100%, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra dropped to 97%.
Running a browser made both phones’ processors “sweat,” but here we see a head-to-head battery of 79% during the test. Running Instagram also gives the same results. If we leave the two phones in standby mode for 16 hours, we can see that Samsung’s Galaxy S phones have caught up with the competition thanks to their larger battery capacity, more efficient chipsets and better software optimization, taking the lead from the Cupertino device.
Samsung is also in the lead when playing Alto’s Adventure, but in the Spotify playlist test, Apple’s device catches up and then takes the lead again during Snapchat: the Galaxy S23 Ultra is off and the iPhone 15 Pro Max has 6% juice left, even though Samsung’s phone has a 5000 mAh battery (Apple’s has 4422).
So Apple had a hard time beating Samsung’s phone, but as we mentioned earlier, its successor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, is coming soon, so that device might be able to beat Apple back, but they’re releasing the iPhone 16 line next year anyway, so it’s a tug-of-war over too frequent hardware upgrades, and the scales will tip this way and that.
