PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium: Are These Games Worth Subscribing For?

As Sony launches cloud play for PlayStation 5 games for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, it’s worth taking a look at the games Sony is adding to the list at the middle and top of the three-tiered subscription.

While Sony remains tight-lipped about which games it’s dropping from PlayStation Plus Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium (something to learn from Microsoft…), it does announce once a month what’s available to its now more expensive subscribers. This has been done on the PlayStation Blog, so let’s take a look at what games are available in each category.

PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers will get these games: Gotham Knights (PlayStation 5), Disco Elysium – The Final Cut (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), Alien: Isolation (PlayStation 4), Dead Island Definitive Edition (PlayStation 4), Outlast 2 (PlayStation 4), Elite Dangerous (PlayStation 4), Far: Changing Tides (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), Gungrave G.O.R.E. (no platforms listed… lol?), Eldest Souls (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), Röki (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4).

PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will also receive these games: Tekken 6 (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), Ape Escape Academy (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), IQ Final (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4) – We’ll also mention the platforms here: Tekken 6, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny and Ape Escape Academy are all coming from the PlayStation Portable, while IQ Final is a PS1 game. So this list is still ridiculously weak.

So the PlayStation Plus Premium tier is still not really worth it, especially if you don’t have a PlayStation 5, because in a few weeks selected PS5 games will be launched from the cloud, a PlayStation 4 won’t be able to do it (which is a bit incomprehensible, because if you stream games they will NOT run locally…). The games will be available from October 17.
