TÁR, a film co-produced by Focus Features and Universal Pictures, will be available from October 30 – exclusively on SkyShowtime.
TÁR is the work of director-writer-producer Todd Field, in which Cate Blanchett plays a world-famous composer and conductor: Lydia Tár. TÁR examines the changing nature, impact and durability of power in our modern world. Lydia Tár is considered by many to be one of the greatest living composers and conductors, who became the first female conductor of a major German orchestra.
Tár, played by two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, in the film by three-time Oscar® nominee Todd Field, is preparing for a book launch and the much-awaited performance of Mahler’s fifth symphony at the peak of her career. He has no idea that in the following weeks, things will happen to him that will turn his whole life upside down. The end result is an examination of the changing nature, impact and durability of power in today’s society. The supporting cast of the film: Nina Hoss, Noémie Merlant, Sophie Kauer, Julian Glover, Mark Strong, Allan Corduner and Sylvia Flote.
The soundtrack for TÁR was composed by Grammy Award-winning composer Hildur Guðnadóttir, the first female composer to win an Oscar, Golden Globe for Best Original Score – and BAFTA award.
