A new image of Assassin’s Creed Red has appeared online, in which fans of the franchise can get a closer look at the character seen in the original announcement.

A new image of Assassin’s Creed Red has surfaced online, and while it doesn’t confirm or show anything too serious, it does give fans a closer look at the post’s supposed protagonist. For those who don’t know, Assassin’s Creed Red (which is just its codename and not a confirmed title) is the upcoming open-world RPG entry in the franchise, set in the long-awaited Japan.

Assassin’s Creed Red indeed seems to be Ubisoft’s answer to these requests, already teased in Assassin’s Creed 3: an Isu section of the game showed the Eye of Horus, which would become Assassin’s Creed Origins; Greece’s Omega symbol, which would become Assassin’s Creed Odyssey; and a toriite that in some ways referred to Assassin’s Creed Red.

Either way, this image comes from Ubisoft writer Pierre Boudreau, who uploaded the image as his LinkedIn banner. It’s unclear if this was intentional, as it appears to be unofficial marketing material, but the image is still up as of this writing. The clearest detail shows the face of the supposed protagonist. He first appeared in the original announcement of Assassin’s Creed Red, but then he wore a hood and no one could see his face. This image highlights this, with an Assassin’s Creed logo on the right. While these symbols are usually stylized around the sect, era, and/or location, this here appears to be a standard logo. It is worth pointing out that some kanji can be seen under the symbol, although this is also cut off by the style of the banner.

According to rumors and leaks about Assassin’s Creed Red, the game may have two protagonists. The first, as seen here, is said to be a female shinobi, while the second is an African samurai. The latter may be based on Yasuke, a real African samurai who achieved said rank in 16th century Japan. But whether that’s true remains to be seen, considering one half of the equation was self-explanatory with the reveal trailer.

As for the timing of the Assassin’s Creed Red news, it is understood that it will be the next console entry in the franchise after the recently released Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This, like everything else, should be treated with reservations, but Ubisoft has high hopes for the title, considering that a lot of people are interested in the specific location.
