Alan Wake 2 Is Extremely Well Optimized on the PS5/Xbox Series, According to Remedy; Visuals and Performance Have Improved Since May

Remedy’s Thomas Puha recently took to Twitter to talk about how the long-awaited Alan Wake sequel is running on consoles. “Alan Wake 2 is very well optimized on the PS5 and Xbox series,” said Remedy’s director of communications.

According to the director of communications, the team has done an amazing job to ensure that the performance and visuals of the game are as good as possible on the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. As Puha mentioned, the console version of Alan Wake 2 is “great”. The same can be said for the PC version of the game, which is said to be “as good as it gets”.

“Especially as a console gamer, I’m very happy with how good Alan Wake 2 is on console platforms,” Puha wrote on Twitter. “We put a lot of focus on them during development, making sure the game runs well and looks as incredible as it does. To be fair, we focused on every platform as much as we could”.

In a follow-up tweet, Puha added: “Yes. I have the unofficial role of ‘gamer experience’, which is a very, very loose term, but I’ll do my best for console quality, as we have more than enough people to make PC to drive quality to the best possible level”.

When asked about PlayStation 5 gameplay, the communications director referred to footage from May’s State of Play event where gameplay was shown. Puha emphasized that since then the performance and visuals have continued to improve.

“This is from May”, referring to the gameplay revealing trailer made in May this year. “so there’s more detail in the visuals, better performance, actual final color grading, and a bunch of other things we missed at the time as the game was in development”.

We’ve included this PS5 gameplay reveal trailer, which ran 100% on PlayStation 5, below for those who haven’t seen it yet:

In addition to mentioning the PS5 version, Puha also said that the game looks and runs great on Xbox Series X.

Besides mentioning “consoles,” Puha didn’t specifically mention the Xbox Series S version of the game, and it will be interesting to see how Alan Wake 2 runs and performs on Microsoft’s entry-level console. Previously, Puha talked about the technical limitations of the console and that these limitations should be taken into account from the very beginning of development.

Alan Wake 2 launches this week on October 27th for Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC. PC gamers should check the game’s official system requirements, as they are quite demanding.
