We can examine Remedy Entertainment’s game more than just its performance and visuals on the PlayStation 5.
We recently showed you how the PlayStation 5 port holds up (not perfect, but pretty good), and while the PC version has a landslide advantage, it’s also a lot more demanding on the machine. But now ElAnalistaDeBits’ video compares the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC versions. There are basically no differences between the larger Xbox and the PS5. In some places the Xbox Series X is 1-2 FPS faster, so it’s a little more stable, but otherwise there’s not much difference. On the Xbox Series S the game runs great. Almost identical visuals to the two bigger consoles in performance mode!
Remedy Entertainment’s Q&A for the game also confirmed that Alan Wake 2 will receive two story DLCs. The first, Night Springs, sounds a bit like a TV show, so it may arrive in shorter installments in the spring, but the structure may not follow the genre: “Visions and dreams. Fiction is written and comes true. Fiction collapses and remains just words on a page. These are the stories in Night Springs. Play as several familiar characters from the world of Alan Wake and experience the unexplainable in multiple, self-contained episodes of Night Springs, a fictional television series set in the world of Alan Wake. ”
The second, The Lake House, is an obvious reference to the Remedy universe, as the location in Control was The Oldest House, and the DLC’s description of it refers to an independent government organization (which was also in Control…): “The Lake House is a mysterious facility on the shores of Cauldron Lake, built by an independent government organization to conduct secret research…until something goes wrong. Explore the Lake House and embark on two separate adventures as the realities of Saga Anderson and Alan Wake collide once again. This DLC will also be released sometime in 2024.
The two DLCs are included in the $80 Deluxe Edition of Alan Wake, but it’s not yet known if they will be available separately.
