World Of Warcraft: Can The Worldsoul Saga Spark The Public’s Interest? [VIDEO]

At BlizzCon, Blizzard unveiled not one, but three upcoming expansions for the MMORPG that’s been on the rise for nearly two decades…

World of Warcraft doesn’t have the player base it once did, as players are now split between many more games. Perhaps that’s why Chris Metzen, co-creator of the Warcraft universe, has come out of retirement to create the next generation of World of Warcraft adventures. This has been dubbed The Worldsoul Saga, which will mark the start of a new era compared to the previous ones, and we can expect at least three add-ons (The War Within, Midnight, Last Titan).

There’s even a new teaser video from Blizzard, featuring Thrall and Anduin. It looks pretty serious and dark, even for a layman (because not everyone in the editorial team has played “WoW”, as unusual as that sounds). The first add-on, The War Within, will be released sometime in 2024. It will take players into the heart of Azeroth and add a new character type, the Earthen Dwarf. In addition to traditional dungeons and raids, there will be challenges for smaller teams of 2-5 players (delves).

The Midnight expansion returns to the Old World, uniting the divided elves of Azeroth. The Last Titan takes you to the snowy landscape of Northrend, and as the name suggests, the Titans are returning. Blizzard has also hinted at a conspiracy involving the Titans and Azeroth. There is no release date for either of these add-ons, but Metzen says that content for the World of Warcraft saga will be coming faster than usual, so we can expect annual releases.

Then there’s World of Warcraft Classic. Old-school WoW will also be expanding, with WoW Classic: Cataclysm coming in the first half of 2024. And Season of Discovery-style content will be released on 30 November. It follows that Blizzard is not letting World of Warcraft go.
