MOVIE NEWS – With a loud bang, ‘A Quiet Place’ burst into cinemas in 2018. This isn’t to be taken literally, as the film revolves around the concept that its heroes must not make a sound; otherwise, the bloodthirsty alien creatures, who navigate by sound, will discover them. After the surprise success of the first film, the sequel wasn’t far behind, and it also enjoyed great success.

The upcoming ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ will tell the story of the origins, specifically the events of the terrible day when the aliens began their attack. The first part was carried to success by the Emily Blunt-John Krasinski couple: they were the main actors, coincidentally playing a married couple, with Krasinski also being the screenwriter, director, and producer. In the sequel, only Blunt appeared on screen, while her husband contributed as a writer, director, and producer. In the current film, Krasinski has stepped back further, serving ‘only’ as a co-screenwriter and producer, with the likes of Michael Bay (Transformers movies) as his co-producer.

The creation of ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ was admittedly aimed at refreshing the franchise. Emily Blunt characterized the production as ‘Lupita’s film.’ This refers to Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), who, as a differently characterized protagonist, can take the film in a new direction. This is also indicated by the choice of director: Michael Sarnoski, who, with his film ‘Pig’ two years ago, immediately became one of the most sought-after creators in Hollywood. With his sensitivity, he will undoubtedly bring new shades to the alien creature movie genre, even though leaked information suggests that ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ will focus on human dramas alongside action, giving less role to the alien horror.
