Apple Vision Pro: Doubtful Future Despite Good Pre-Orders

TECH NEWS – Pre-orders for the AR headset, which costs a minimum of 3500, maximum 4800 dollars (we wrote about the latter in the past!), have started in vain, but the future is not very positive.

Last week, the Cupertino-based tech giant started taking pre-orders for the headset. The device can be bought at a higher price with more storage, but other options also play a role in the price. Nevertheless, an analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, wrote on Medium that up to 180,000 (but at least 160,000) copies of Apple’s product could be pre-ordered. However, this is only part of a product’s life: if the momentum is not there, it will quickly fizzle out and later sales will drop significantly! Moreover, this is only one factor in the headset’s potential success…

Ming-Chi Kuo had previously said that Apple’s initial inventory was 60-80,000 units, so the delivery time for each model has increased to 5-7 weeks, so it is unlikely that everyone will get the product on February 2, the launch day. The analyst points to the popularity of the iPhone. Although pre-orders ran out quickly (waiting times increased to weeks within hours), the time to delivery always increases 24-48 hours after pre-orders start, meaning that demand for the phones remains strong.

The analyst believes that reaching 500,000 units will not be a big challenge, as he previously wrote that the Apple Vision Pro will be available outside the US before WWDC 2024, but also that after good initial results we should expect a decline, so we need to keep an eye on consumer behavior and demand. The $3500 price tag is a big factor in the fact that not many people will buy such a headset.

Maybe that’s why there are rumors that a cheaper model is in the pipeline that Apple could release next year.
