An Unusual Suggestion From Malwarebytes!

TECH NEWS – This is where we have to say that the subject matter is quite mature.

This is not a joke. So if you don’t have someone to spend time with in bed, you’re left with a toy. But this can also lead to virtual STDs, as cybercriminals will stop at nothing to steal other people’s hard-earned wealth. Even through a vibrator. Unusual to describe, but we have to talk about cybersexual infections!

On Reddit, a user reported in a now-deleted post that his Malwarebytes app blocked malware that tried to install itself. Yes, but the user had plugged the vibrator into a USB port to charge it, and that’s how the malware was trying to get onto the computer! We won’t go into detail here about what kind of device it is, but the manufacturer, Spencer’s website, has a rating of nearly five stars out of more than 150 reviews, so more people might be concerned about getting malware on a PC after having fun with it.

The malware is called Lumma and it specializes in data theft. It can steal our login credentials, our crypto wallet details, and our two-factor authentication (2FA) details. Malwarebytes is so serious that it has published technical details of the attack in a blog post and even contacted the manufacturer of the vibrator. Why would a vibrator need USB accessible storage?

The best solution is not to plug the device into your computer or laptop, but simply to plug it into an electrical outlet, because that is where the power comes from. The other alternative is a USB condom. Yes, there is such a thing, and it prevents data from moving and only allows power to be drawn through the port. If you need to charge a device at a public charging station, this can be a very useful solution.

What is the lesson here? As technology advances, adult toys keep up (hence the USB port), strange as it may seem.
