CINEMA NEWS – Mixing humor and horror can, if lucky, give rise to surprisingly good films, such as Dawn of the Dead in the zombie subgenre or Roman Polanski’s classic, Vampire Ball</em >.
Also competing in this field is the soon-to-be-seen Abigail, featuring an underage ballerina (Alisha Weir) – presumably Dracula’s daughter – settles accounts with the criminals who captured him. The opus, which debuted with a promising trailer, is written by the formation called Radio Silence – Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett – who made the two last Scream films a success. The two sequels were well received by the audience and critics, but voices were also heard that the creative couple’s hands were tied too much, since this franchise is basically about the masked killer coming with the big knife, the girls screaming, and even with the help of a large dose of self-irony, you cannot boldly break away from this. Knowing the concept of Abigail, there are now rumors that this film could be the creative breakthrough for the duo: in the sequels, they can rewrite the vampire myth according to the needs of the TikTok generation, enjoying much more freedom. as in the case of Scream.
