Apparently, Yves Guillemot’s company has no plans for this franchise, so if the rumor is true, after three episodes there will simply be no fourth, even though we waited ten years for the first episode to be released after the long delay.xj0nathan, who made a reference to Far Cry 7 a few days ago (we reported on it), was very open about another Ubisoft IP.According to him, Watch_Dogs is dead and it goes back to the third installment, Watch_Dogs: Legion.
It wasn’t a success, and that’s why, according to the leaker, Ubisoft scrapped several projects, including a “fairly original” battle royale concept. The leaker’s statement is hard to refute.Watch Dogs: Legion was not a very exciting creation and gamers may have forgotten what it had to offer, even though it had some original ideas. However, Ubisoft has been pushing two other IPs lately. There’s Assassin’s Creed, which sounds like the French company’s main intellectual property, and there’s Far Cry, which has been a growing success for Ubisoft over the past two decades (especially since the third installment was released in 2012).
Watch Dogs est normalement mort et enterré. Le bide de Legion a détruit les projets sur la licence (dont un Battle Royale assez original)

However, we have seen examples of Ubisoft bringing back an older IP.There’s the Splinter Cell remake, which was in the news earlier today, as well as Prince of Persia, which recently got Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and The Rogue Prince of Persia, which is coming soon to Early Access. So there’s a chance that Watch_Dogs could make a comeback in the future, but it wouldn’t be surprising if they explore a remake or remaster first, and only develop a new episode if it generates good enough sales.
All of this is unofficial, of course, but regardless, don’t really expect any announcements about the Watch_Dogs IP during Ubisoft Forward in June. Silence is an admission of guilt.
