F1 24: How has Codemasters Changed the Graphics? [VIDEO]

The team at Electronic Arts have tinkered with the drivers and the tracks in terms of how they look, but as we drive around the tracks we’ll see how they’ve changed from F1 23.

In the case of Silverstone, we’ve already heard that it’s been significantly tweaked by the British company to make sure that everything on and around the track is completely authentic and accurate, and that the drivers can feel every bump in the road. The track also has a not insignificant elevation change (37 feet or 11.23 meters), and this is not left out of F1 24. Spa-Francorchamps has also undergone a facelift. The Eau Rouge and Raidillon have been resurfaced, the run-off area at the side of the track has been improved, the unnamed turn 11 and the chicane at the bus stop have also been resurfaced. Be careful in the Bruxelles bend, as there is no longer asphalt outside the track, but a gravel bed!

In career mode, there are scenes between the weekend sessions, and a few hundred audio files have been taken from the real broadcast, so if you’re driving a real F1 driver, you’ll hear them say something contextually (when they finish a race or crash). Lighting, shadows and reflections are also greatly improved during cutscenes and races thanks to the use of ray-traced DDGI (Dynamic Diffuse Global Illumination). EGO Engine eye and skin shaders improve overall rendering and pilot appearance. The F2 cars at launch will only be 2023 (again…?), 2024 will come later with a free update.

There will be several iconic drivers, from Pastor Maldonado to Jamie Chadwick, but two are locked into the more expensive version (Champions Edition), including Juan Pablo Montoya, and 1976 World Champion James Hunt is only available in My Team mode (where you can hire F1 Simulator champions Lucas Blakeley, Jarno Opmeer and David Tonizza for your team). F1 23 World mode is extended with the Fanzone mode: after completing early F1 World events, you can choose your favorite team and driver, and Fanzone members compete against each other for fan points by playing F1 World modes, creating a community. There will be unique challenges, so you can also earn rewards for reaching real F1 season scores. Fanzone championships will have a balanced scoring system, giving less popular teams a chance to win.

F1 24 will be released on May 31 (and the Champions Edition on May 28) for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (with Denuvo, which will never be removed), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
