Microsoft has proved that multiplatform releases make sense, as Rare’s previously Xbox-exclusive game has enjoyed excellent sales on the rival platform.
According to the PlayStation Blog, the most downloaded PlayStation 5 game on PlayStation Network in April 2024 in Europe was Sea of Thieves, excluding free-to-play games! And in North America? The pirate game published by Xbox Game Studios also made the podium there, but overseas Sea of Thieves only came third. Let’s take a look at the two lists:

Grand Theft Auto V brings in a strong result as an eternal classic, Stellar Blade missed the podium, while Call of Duty, the EA soccer game formerly known as FIFA, never misses the top 20. Of the older games, The Witcher 3 is surprisingly resilient, while an update to Fallout 4 and the first season of the series, which is on Amazon, unsurprisingly propelled Bethesda Game Studios’ game into a high spot.
