It’s not a rumor, it’s something the company hasn’t officially talked about yet, but a job posting has caught them out, and we can’t quite imagine how it’s going to work with Ms. Croft.
A job posting has popped up on Amazon’s website. They are looking for a Senior Publishing Producer to join their Tomb Raider franchise team. In partnership with Crystal Dynamics, they are developing and publishing the next AAA Tomb Raider game. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is able to work independently and as part of a team, embraces a culture of openness and respect that facilitates communication at all levels, has a penchant for digging deep and finding solutions to complex problems, demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as analytical and problem-solving skills, and is able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and interface with all levels of the organization.
The candidate will join a publishing team dedicated to building and maintaining a global workforce that reflects the diversity of the Tomb Raider fan base. You will create and manage production processes including validating milestones, tracking development progress, and managing risk with multiple contributors including the development team, internal partners, and occasionally external agencies; use data and current task status to ensure predictability and integrity of delivery schedules; implement development approval and review processes to ensure buy-in from product leadership, marketing leadership, and Amazon Games executive leadership; and drive production communications for a multi-disciplinary publishing organization including development, QA, business operations, and other internal and external teams.
Basic qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, 12+ years of game industry experience, 6+ years of professional experience managing or producing AAA games, and experience with game project management and product processes (e.g. Scrum, Agile, etc.) such as scheduling teams, managing external partners. It’s preferred if you have a passion for games, a broad knowledge of game project management and product processes, strong cross-team collaboration skills, and, most surprisingly, experience with live services and the complexities of running a live product.
That caught our eye. How in the world could they imagine turning a mostly single-player IP into anything resembling a live service? We can’t even imagine the cooperative gameplay of Tomb Raider!
