Xbox Game Pass: One Of 2024’s Biggest Titles Available On The Service From Day One! [VIDEO]

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been announced, and it will join the Xbox Game Pass catalogue on day one!

Microsoft has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be an Xbox Game Pass day-one release. This is the first game in the long-running series to be officially confirmed to be coming to Game Pass on launch day.

Fans have been waiting for Call of Duty titles to come to Xbox Game Pass ever since Microsoft closed its massive acquisition of Activision Blizzard in mid-October 2023.

This wait turned out to be quite long. Microsoft previously claimed that regulatory uncertainty surrounding the acquisition kept it from preparing ahead of time to begin adding Activision Blizzard’s catalogue to its service. Several insiders have even suggested that Microsoft has changed its mind about bringing Call of Duty to Xbox Game Pass. However, the company later reassured fans that the previously announced release plans had not changed.

Microsoft confirms Black Ops 6 day one release on Xbox Game Pass after leak

Mere weeks after reiterating its promise to bring Call of Duty to Xbox Game Pass, the gaming giant has finally announced the first such release in the form of Black Ops 6. The shooter’s arrival on the service was leaked just hours before it was officially confirmed on May 28. At that time, some Xbox Game Pass subscribers were notified about the long-awaited day-one release.

While the announcement was sparse on details, it did confirm that more information will follow early next month when the global reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will take place as part of a dedicated broadcast scheduled to take place right after the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase.

The first of the two events will take place on June 9. It is unclear whether the game’s release date will be revealed during the premiere. Based on previous reports, Black Ops 6 is slated to launch sometime in October 2024. (The live-action preview of the game presented yesterday can be found at the end of the article.)

The release of Black Ops 6 on Microsoft’s subscription service is expected to pave the way for more Call of Duty games. So they can finally make their way to the Game Pass. It is not yet known whether such an expansion will actually be announced at the Xbox Games Showcase.

In the meantime, according to a recent report, Microsoft will be making changes to Game Pass tiers. They’re citing the upcoming arrival of Call of Duty on the service as the main reason. The scope and other specifics of this alleged move are still unclear.
