PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter Lets Players add Thousands of SteamVR Titles to Their Game Library

When PlayStation VR2 was released last year, we were delighted to introduce PS5 gamers to a new generation of VR games, innovative gameplay, and immersive sensory features. Inspired by our passion for offering gamers even more content options, we’ve been working to make more games accessible on PC, complementing the diverse PS VR2 game lineup available on PS5. Today we’re happy to share that we’re rolling out this support on August 7th.

Gamers will have access to purchase and play Steam’s extensive library of thousands of VR games, including fan favorites such as Half-Life: Alyx, Fallout 4 VR, and War Thunder.

To get started, players will need to purchase a PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter, which will be available for an estimated retail price of $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99 at select retailers and direct.playstation.com, where available. Players will also need a commercially available DisplayPort 1.4 compatible DisplayPort cable (sold separately), a Steam account, and a PC that meets the minimum requirements below.*.

Minimum PC Requirements

  • Minimum requirements to play PS VR2 on PC are:
  • Operating system Windows 10 64-bit / Windows 11 64-bit operating system
  • Processor Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 3 3100 (Zen 2 or later architecture required)
RAM / memory at least 8 GB
  • GPU / graphics card -NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or higher (Turing or higher architecture required)-NVIDIA RTX series-AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or higher / AMD Radeon RX 6500XT or higher).

Then download the PlayStation VR2 app and the SteamVR app from Steam. This allows you to set up PS VR2 on PC, customize settings and game space, and start purchasing and playing games in SteamVR.

As with all PC gaming technology, performance may vary depending on PC settings, including system compatibility and DisplayPort 1.4 cable quality. Please make sure your setup meets the minimum requirements. SteamVR titles also have unique system requirements, so please read the game details on Steam.

Differences between PS VR2 and PS5 PS features

PS VR2 was designed from the ground up specifically for PS5 – so you’ll notice that some key features like HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers and haptic feedback (except for rumble) aren’t available. if you play on PC. However, PS VR2’s other high-fidelity and sensory-immersion features are supported, including 4K visual display (2000 x 2040 per eye), 110-degree field of view, finger touch detection and transparent view, as well as foveated rendering (without eye tracking) and 3D sound in supported games.

While the deepest experience of PS VR2 games can still be enjoyed on PS5, we hope gamers will enjoy being able to play an expanded selection of VR games on PC using the same headset. In the Steam Store, you can browse Steam’s vast library of multiplayer open worlds, survival horror and stealth action games, sports simulators, puzzles, and free-to-play fan favorites.

Additionally, as part of the Days of Play celebration, players in select regions will receive $100 off PS VR2 and the PS VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle (for PS5) until June 12th. Be sure to check direct.playstation.com (available in select markets) and participating local retailers as offers and sale dates may vary by region.
