BioWare’s new fantasy RPG Dragon Age: The Veilguard was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase sometime this fall.

We already knew that BioWare was preparing something big for this period dubbed “Non-E3”. A few days ago, the team behind the Mass Effect series revealed that their fantasy RPG will now be called Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This title was more appropriate for the new adventure across Thedas.

Now, to further increase the expectations of fans of the franchise, a new trailer was presented at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, which introduces the companions with whom we will be allied during the adventure.

Even better, BioWare’s trailer also revealed Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s release window. It looks like users will be able to explore the new fantasy story sometime this fall. What else has been revealed, at least in terms of the details of the experience? This time, for the first time, the developers gave us a glimpse of the seven characters who will accompany the protagonist through the land of Thedas.

“You’ll unite and lead this team of unforgettable heroes as you take on a terrifying new threat unleashed on the world of Thedas,” reads Xbox Wire. “Dragon Age: The Veilguard expands upon the Dragon Age stories, worlds and characters from previous games, where players will enter a vibrant land of rugged wilderness, treacherous labyrinths, and glittering cities – steeped in conflict and secret magics. As a new hero – a character you create – along with your companions, you will challenge and take a stand against a pair of corrupt ancient gods who have broken free from centuries of darkness and are hellbent on destroying the world.”

“As you play, you will be rallying a team of seven companions, each with their own rich lives and deep backstories – and each bringing their own expertise and unique abilities to the fight,” the announcement continues.

“Your companions are characters to befriend, lead, grow and even fall in love with. You are never alone. You get to choose who to take into battle with you – and together you will face down demons, dragons and those corrupt gods on the battlefield.”

“Amongst these new companions that join the fray, we will recruit allies such as the Veil Jumper Bellara, the intriguing necromancer Emmrich, and the private detective Neve – all coming from iconic factions in Dragon Age lore, and each possessing individual skill trees and specialized gear for advanced team progression. Dragon Age fans will spot some familiar faces, too, such as the archer Lace Harding who returns to the series as a full time companion.”

Another presentation is in the works

Of course, many players have been looking forward to learning more about the companions in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. However, BioWare still has a lot of information to share about the fantasy RPG. The developer is preparing another presentation that dives deeper into the gameplay through Thedas. This gameplay trailer will be released on June 11th at 17:00 UK time, so we won’t have to wait long for more news on the title.
