[XGS 2024] The New Gears Of War Is Coming, But It’s Not What We Expected! [VIDEO]

With the help of Unreal Engine 5, we will be able to experience the end of Pendulum Wars and Emergence Day in the new Gears of War game with a realism that we have never seen before.

The Gears of War franchise has been with the Xbox since the 360’s long-gone years. Epic Games’ IP, now owned by The Coalition and thus Xbox Game Studios, was not only a masterpiece of third-person shooter game-making, but the story of Marcus Fenix and his companions proved to be memorable. You could have guessed that a new GoW game was coming. But surprisingly, this title will not be the 6th part, but the prequel to the series. Are you ready for release day? Gears of War: E-Day is the next stop.

We had to wait five years for something new from Gears of War, at least a decent game, but now it’s here.

While The Coalition wanted to ease the wait for the sequel with Gears 5: Hivebusters after seeing the switch to Unreal Engine 5 and surprising with crazy visuals, many of us were already counting down the days until the series’ next big release. However, Gears 6 will not be the next game.

Gears of War prequel starring Dom and Marcus

Gears of War: E-Day takes us to Sera after the Pendulum Wars as a surprise and part of the “One More Thing” memoir that closed the Xbox Showcase. To a war event that almost destroyed the entire planet. The Locust Horde exterminated everything and everyone. In this prequel, as we have seen, we can follow the story of Marcus and Dom in the early days.

When they confront the first Locusts to invade the surface, they are bloodier and more brutal than ever.

They did not reveal which development studio is behind it. What we do know is that Unreal Engine 5 will power the game. In a way, we’ve never seen it before. The Coalition, the studio now responsible for the series, spent years taming the latest engine of Epic Games to provide a graphically outstanding experience. This is what Ninja Theory did for Hellblade 2. While we haven’t gotten a playable look at E-Day yet, the first trailer looks gorgeous. (See at the end of the article!)

It’s a much more urban, beastly and depressing setting that looks like it will tie in with the first Gears of War launch trailer, with Gary Jules’ Mad World in the background. However, the problem came at the end of the trailer: neither the release window nor the year is specified. We know that the next stop will be this E-Day and not Gears 6. Unfortunately, we don’t know when we can play it.
