Rumor has it that Panache and Microsoft have formed a partnership, so maybe Patrice Désilets’ next game (whatever it is) won’t disappear in the same way as 1666 Amsterdam…
Xbox is said to be working with several studios behind the scenes. One of them is Hundred Star. The name alone doesn’t say anything, but if you add the fact that it’s a studio run by former Rocksteady executives, it sounds better. The other team is Panache Digital Games, which was founded in 2014 and hasn’t released many projects since. The Montréal-based studio was founded by Patrice Désilets, the creator of Assassin’s Creed.
According to information on the eXputer forum, the game will be developed using Unreal Engine 5. It is possible that 1666 Amsterdam could be realized thanks to the Xbox deal. Désilets’ long-gestating passion project has been reported in detail before, but it’s not certain that this is the game Panache presented to Microsoft at Reboot Develop. The goal of Désilets’ studio is clear: they are looking for a publisher.
OMG.. what an announcement at @rebootdevelop !!!!!!!!

Panache Digital Games has only released one game so far, 2019’s Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, a third-person survival game for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. On Twitter, Johanna Prinker posted about the studio’s next, yet-to-be-announced game: she’s seen some images of the project, which could be released in 2026, possibly 2027, but that could change.
According to the tweet, the reboot was developed towards the end of April, so it’s been almost two months since then, which is why it’s a bit strange that the rumor about Panache Digital Games has just started. Two of the three replies to the tweet also think it could be 1666 Amsterdam, but it’s always best to be skeptical, so we shouldn’t back out if it turns out that Désilets is actually working on something else.
None of this is official yet, of course.
