Microsoft must now consider what Rare’s game achieved on Sony’s network as more than just a one-off blip: it not only hit the big time at launch, but managed to do so afterwards too.
Sony has published on the PlayStation Blog the most popular games on PlayStation platforms in North America (US, Canada) and Europe. In both regions, May’s top game was Sea of Thieves!
PlayStation 5 top 20, North America:
- Sea of Thieves
- Madden NFL 24
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III
- Helldivers 2
- Grand Theft Auto V
- NBA 2K24
- MLB The Show 24
- Stellar Blade
- Fallout 4
- Who’s Your Daddy?!
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
- Grounded
- Another Crab’s Treasure
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- NHL 24
- Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game
- Rise of the Ronin
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage
- WWE 2K24
- Elden Ring
The must-have sports game is on the podium (American football in second place) and Call of Duty has also made its way up, but Sony’s successful live service game came in fourth, followed by the evergreen GTA V, then two sports games and the PlayStation 5 exclusive Stellar Blade. With the success of the Fallout TV series, it’s no wonder Fallout 4 is in the top 20.
PlayStation 5 top 20, Europe:
- Sea of Thieves
- Grand Theft Auto V
- F1 24
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage
- Helldivers 2
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III
- TopSpin 2K25
- Fallout 4
- Who’s Your Daddy?!
- Stellar Blade
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
- It Takes Two
- NBA 2K24
- Among Us
- Grounded
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Gran Turismo 7
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
- The Crew Motorfest
Here, though, half the list is made up of completely different titles. This year’s F1 opened in third place, with Gran Turismo 7, Resident Evil 4 Remake, The Crew Motorfest and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla all making an appearance in the top 20.
But the bottom line remains the same: Microsoft’s game pulled in May in both areas.
