Rare Coincidence: Today Is An Important Day For Both PS Plus And Xbox Game Pass Players!

June 18 is a hectic day for both PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass…

Today, Tuesday, June 18, will be a particularly busy day for Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus subscribers. Both Game Pass and PS Plus receive new content on different days each month. But there are days when the stars align, and today is going to be hectic for both services.

Today, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can enjoy a new game coming to the service on launch day, and unless Microsoft breaks with tradition, this will most likely be the day they announce it as part of Xbox Game Pass’s June 2024 lineup second wave.

On the PS Plus page, subscribers to the Extra and Premium levels can expect the June 2024 additions. However, they should also be aware that some games are also leaving on that day.

Why June 18 Will Be a Big Day for Xbox Game Pass

  • New day-one game added: Still Wakes the Deep
  • June 2024 Wave 2 announcement

On Tuesday, June 18, Still Wakes the Deep will join Xbox Game Pass as a day-one release.

For the uninitiated, Still Wakes the Deep is a new first-person horror game set on an oil rig.

Like many modern horror games, Still Wakes the Deep has no combat system whatsoever. This increases the tension significantly. The game is being developed by The Chinese Room, the same studio behind Dear Esther, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture. So there is a good chance that it will live up to the expectations placed on it. Xbox Game Pass subscribers can see for themselves when the game hits the service on June 18.

The addition of Still Wakes the Deep is enough to make June 18 an exciting day for Game Pass. But there’s another reason fans should keep their eyes open today. June 18 will most likely also be the day Microsoft announces all the games coming to the service in the second half of the month.

Both PS Plus Extra and Premium will get new games on June 18:

  • After Us
  • Anno 1800: Console Edition
  • Crusader Kings 3
  • Daxter (Premium)
  • Far Cry 4
  • Football Manager 2024 Console
  • Ghost Hunter (Premium)
  • Kayak VR: Mirage (Premium)
  • LEGO The Hobbit
  • LEGO The Incredibles
  • LEGO Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy (Premium)
  • Monster Energy Supercross: The Official Videogame 6
  • Monster Hunter Rise
  • Police Simulator: Patrol Officers

PlayStation Plus subscribers also have reason to celebrate on June 18, provided they’ve subscribed to at least the Extra or Premium tier. On June 18, 14 new games will be added to the PS Plus Extra and Premium system.

However, this day will be dense for these levels for another reason. Not only are 14 games coming to PS Plus Extra and Premium on June 18, but PS Plus subscribers will have to say goodbye to some titles that are currently available on the service.

List of games leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers on June 18:

  • Baja: Edge of Control HD (PS Plus Premium)
  • Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
  • DC League of Super-Pets: The Adventures of Krypto and Ace
  • Dodgeball Academy
  • Grand Theft Auto 5
  • Indivisible
  • Monster Jam: Steel Titans
  • MotoGP 23
  • SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated
  • The Talos Principle: Deluxe Edition
  • The Wild at Heart
  • Unturned

On June 18, 13 games will leave the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers, of which 12 games will come from the Extra tier, and one was exclusively in the Premium tier. By far, the biggest title to leave is Grand Theft Auto 5. However, it’s sad to see any game go, especially acclaimed titles like Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and The Talos Principle.
