Far Cry 7: Did we Learn about the Game’s Family?

Several elements of the game are consistent with what Insider Gaming revealed last year, including the wealthy family and conspiracy theories…

Last year, they were looking for people to work on a project codenamed Rival. The project was led by Angela Bottis, who was previously in charge of casting for Far Cry 6 and other Ubisoft titles. According to the leak, Layla Bennett is in her late 20s, lives in New England, and is the self-proclaimed heir to an empire and aspiring CEO. She is idealistic, ambitious, and self-reliant. Despite her father’s favor, she feels like an outsider because Layla was born to a different mother than her siblings, and they see her as a lowly “half-Bennett. She feels guilty about her family’s wealth and struggles with how to use it to help the world. Layla wants to take the position of CEO to reshape the empire and help people, not exploit them. Dax Bennett is in his early to mid-40s with a deep voice. He’s a spoon-fed, nepotistic first-born son with a chip on his shoulder. A rich playboy who is selfish, entitled, ruthless, jealous and vindictive. He values success, the hustle culture, and winning at life. Dax wants to defeat the sinking feeling that deep down, behind all the bravado, is a teenager who never grew up and never amounted to anything. He wants to win his father’s approval as the legitimate heir to the Bennett empire. His whole life is a never-ending quest to win his father’s approval. Character References: Jordan Belfort (Wolf of Wall Street), Andrew Tate, Dan Bilzerian. Brie Bennett is in her mid-to-late 30s and uses a California accent to distinguish herself. She speaks clearly and her voice is loud, but her speech can be frenzied at times. She is a delusional, self-obsessed New Age wellness fanatic who is desperate to make amends for the damage she has done. She’s impulsive, impressionable, shallow, consumerist, gullible, and judgmental. Brie wants revenge on her father and to find a cure for the neurological damage she believes was inflicted on her as a child. Her wellness habits/rituals are often motivated by a desire to feel superior to others, something she lacked in her family. She has a strained relationship with her father and is jealous of her half-sister, Layla. Brie is a big talker who sometimes talks fast and cuts people off. Character References: Lindsay Bluth (Arrested Development), Gwyneth Paltrow, Masha (Nine Perfect Strangers), Portia Davenport (Search Party). Christian Bennett is in his early to mid-30s. He’s a momma’s boy and a struggling artist stuck in parental trauma. He is snobbish, emotional, eccentric and damaged. He is often sarcastic and has a dry sense of humor. Christian wants to escape his family and find artistic success without being judged by them. He has always felt different from his family and is struggling to come to terms with his mother’s death. Christian has a tense, strained relationship with his father and blames him for his mother’s death. Character references: Andy Warhol, Vincent Gallo, Timothee Chalamet.

These were the main characters. Let’s take a look at the main characters. Henry Bennett is in his late 60’s, early 70’s. He’s articulate, cultured, and commanding. He is a well-educated elitist. Henry is an influential and enigmatic patriarch, the head of the Bennett empire. He is ambitious, manipulative, stubborn, narcissistic, unstable, and tyrannical. The Bennett legacy is in danger of ending with him, and he has yet to find a way to rectify this. He wrestles with his failures as a fortune builder while trying to secure his family’s legacy. Character References: Terence Fletcher (Whiplash), Dr. Robert Ford (Westworld), Daniel Plainview (There Will Be Blood), Tywin Lannister (Game of Thrones). He believes the world owes him respect, wealth and justice. He wants to prove to everyone that he’s smarter than they are and will take what’s owed to him. Character quotes: Howard Payne (Speed), Verbal Kint (The Usual Suspects), Michael Knowles, Hans Gruber, (Die Hard). John Mackay is in his late 30s, early 40s with a working-class accent. Mac is a gruff, selfish loner with a tortured past. His past and present have been shaped by the loss of those close to him. He is short-tempered, quick-witted, a little sarcastic, self-assured, and a thick-skinned survivor who takes no nonsense. Mac flirted with the criminal underworld for a while and saw his share of violence, but quickly realized that life was destined to be short, so he turned to the sea. He has a knack for boating, but finds it difficult to make a living on the coasts. Character References: Riley Flynn (Midnight Mass), Han Solo (Star Wars), Jimmy McNulty (The Wire), Jac Burton (Big Trouble in Little China). And finally, a supporting character, Dr. Safna Kazan in her 50s or mid-30s in flashbacks. Ideally, the actor would be able to play both roles. Her ethnicity is Pakistani or South Asian, and although she has lived half her life in the United States, she still has a slight Punjabi accent. Safna is a talented doctor and Harvard Med graduate with a sordid past, now ostracized and focused on revenge. She’s intelligent and selfish, a perfectionist and a workaholic. She can be vindictive and proud. Safna believes that success is guaranteed through hard work and sacrifice. She’s professional, no-nonsense and blunt. Character References: Cristina Yang (Grey’s Anatomy), Gemma (M3gan), Dana Scully (X-Files), Dr. Louis Banks (Arrival), and Cassandra Thomas (Promising Young Woman).
