In a wide-ranging interview with YouTube, Bethesda Game Studios (BGS) developer Todd Howard talked about the status of the new The Elder Scrolls game.
We’ve already covered the interview with MrMattyPlays a few times, so Howard spoke on a number of topics over the course of the hour or so, but so far there’s been no mention of The Elder Scrolls VI, which was announced at E3 2018 and still doesn’t have a publicly known subtitle (it surely will, as the other episodes have one as well). It’s safe to say that the game was announced too early, as it’s been six years since then and is still far from having a release date. Starfield was released last year (also announced by Bethesda at the same time), and we wrote that Howard wanted to release story DLC for it every year…
Howard said in the interview that BGS is now working on The Elder Scrolls VI, and they can see how things are going at the studio, so it’s no wonder that fans are missing news about it. He appreciates the thoughts and the fans and confirmed that the studio is working on the game and will show it to everyone one day. But at least it’s in a better position than Fallout 5, which was previously said to be in development after the release of The Elder Scrolls VI.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been out for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC for over twelve years now (where were PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2011?), and BGS has had several re-releases since then, but it’s fair to say that time has passed, and it’s no wonder that fans are now asking where The Elder Scrolls VI (which was only given a teaser and couldn’t have gotten any more, as it wasn’t in development at the time!
