Star Wars Outlaws: Ubisoft and Massive Seem to be in a Hurry!

An important milestone has been reached for the game developed by Massive Entertainment, but perhaps a little earlier than it should have been…

The account for Star Wars Outlaws has announced on Twitter that the game set in George Lucas’ universe has gone gold surprisingly early for its release date, which means that the master disc has been completed and mass duplication can begin. In other words, Massive has reached the state of the game that will appear on the disc version. Although Massive got there early, Square Enix reached this point even earlier with Final Fantasy XVI, as Clive’s were there almost three months before release. They usually start making physical copies a few weeks before launch.

However, some games have skipped the retail version at launch. Alan Wake 2 was one of them. But the work isn’t over for Massive, as they will continue to look for bugs and glitches to fix with the first day patch (the bigger the mess the game is in when the disc version is ready, the bigger the patch size), but this should give them confidence that the developers have started production because the game is sufficiently polished.

Star Wars Outlaws will use the studio’s own engine, Snowdrop (rumored to be used in Far Cry 7), and will have seamless transitions between space and planetary gameplay, but don’t expect that between planets. Historically set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, the concept was originally proposed by Lucasfilm. It will also support Nvidia DLSS 3.5 (Super Resolution, Frame Generation, Ray Reconstruction) on PC.

Star Wars Outlaws will be released on August 30 (August 27 for those who pay more) for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC. Where is Amazon Luna? Ubisoft is quite supportive of the cloud service…
