New Approach Promises a Smoother Launch for Cyberpunk 2

Cyberpunk 2077 had a rocky launch in 2020, but has since made a historic comeback. Developers are determined not to repeat the same mistakes.

With projects like Cyberpunk 2 and The Witcher 4 in development, CD Projekt Red is working hard to ensure a smoother launch for the highly anticipated sequel.

Cyberpunk 2077 launched in 2020 with game-breaking bugs and technical issues, leading to its removal from online stores. Since then, numerous patches, a 2.0 update, and the Phantom Liberty DLC have helped restore its reputation, and it is now considered one of the greatest RPGs for its unique setting and story.

CD Projekt Red is committed to avoiding past mistakes. Pawel Sasko, Associate Game Director for the upcoming Cyberpunk sequel, Project Orion, confirmed this in an interview with Dexerto.

“We had to completely overhaul our production pipelines. Now, we work in content teams, feature teams, and cross-functional teams. This is a big step forward,” Sasko explained.

He stated that the company has “learned many lessons” since Cyberpunk 2077’s release and now uses a new development approach.

“We have learned a lot from the development and release of Cyberpunk 2077,” he continued. “Ensuring we don’t repeat mistakes is a priority for us, and we really want to get it right.

I know many people are eagerly waiting for a new Witcher game and a new Cyberpunk title. The anticipation is huge, so we are very aware of how important this is for the future.”

Cyberpunk 2, or Project Orion, has not yet received a release date and is still in early development. However, fans are already feeling more optimistic about the series’ future.
