CD Projekt has a lot of games in the pipeline (either directly or through acquired studios), so it’s fair to ask which ones are closest to the finish line.
In the video embedded below, Pawel Sasko, CD Projekt’s Associate Game Director, lists a number of games they have in the works. Canis Majoris will be The Witcher Remake and is being developed by Polish studio Fool’s Theory; Orion will be a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 and is being developed at CD Projekt’s Boston studio; The Witcher 4 (codenamed Polaris) is being developed primarily at CD Projekt’s “main” studio in Warsaw; and finally, Sirius is a spin-off from The Witcher and is being developed by Molasses Flood, also in Boston.
Sasko told us that The Witcher 4 (not the official name, of course, we don’t know that yet) is in the more advanced stages of development. But even though it is ahead of the others, it is still a long way from release. According to Sasko, most of the projects are in the early stages, with the exception of Polaris, which will enter the development phase later this year. Understandably, it has the largest number of developers, with the growing Orion team a distant second.
It’s understandable that the new Vaják adventure is the first priority, as the Polish company is pouring its resources into it. The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is still in its infancy (CD Projekt RED’s Adam Badowski said last October that it’s in the conceptual design stage), Sirius underwent a full reboot in early 2023, and Canis Majoris hasn’t been heard from since its announcement in 2022. A new IP, Hadar, is also in the pipeline from the team developing it, and was announced at the end of 2022.
There is nothing wrong with burning more than one tree at a time. If you work on the projects with the right people and don’t work overtime, the result will be satisfactory.
