MOVIE NEWS – Emmy-winning comedian Bob Newhart has died at the age of 94. Newhart was best known for his roles in The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, but his career included many other notable highlights.

 

Bob Newhart, the Emmy-winning comedian and an iconic figure in comedy, passed away at the age of 94, reported mafab.hu. Born George Robert Newhart on September 5, 1929, in Oak Park, Illinois, Newhart became famous for his unique style of humor and his comedic monologues.

Newhart rose to fame in 1960 with his Grammy-winning comedy albums, The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart and The Button-Down Mind Strikes Back!, which laid the foundation for the golden age of comedy records. These albums not only topped the Billboard charts but also sold millions of copies.

His television career began in 1961-62 with The Bob Newhart Show, but he became widely known for the CBS sitcom The Bob Newhart Show (1972-78), where he played a Chicago psychologist. This show was one of the most-watched series in America, earning Newhart an Emmy nomination for his writing.

He later starred in another successful CBS sitcom, Newhart, starting in 1982, where he played an innkeeper in Vermont. This role earned him his only Emmy Award in 1993.

Other notable roles include Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory, where he played Professor Proton in several episodes. He also appeared in films such as Elf, where he played Papa Elf, and Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, where he portrayed Sid Post.

Bob Newhart had a long and successful career, bringing laughter to generations. His legacy will be cherished forever.
