Is Blizzard already Preparing for Gamescom with an Xbox Game Pass Deal?

Microsoft has begun its preparations for Gamescom, as its subsidiary Blizzard has added fuel to the subscription service rumors.

Recently, Blizzard began sending out free PC Game Pass codes to users, which are only valid for one month on a new account and must be redeemed by July 24th. It’s interesting timing, as we’ve previously heard that more Activision Blizzard games will be coming to the recently price-gouged Xbox Game Pass (which we also wrote would see further price hikes).

One of the games likely to show up on the subscription service is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, and that too is set to launch its next season on July 24. What a coincidence, right? So the Redmond tech giant wants to get more users on Game Pass. Rumor has it that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Spyro: Reignited Trilogy and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 could also be part of the Game Pass offering… although those are from Activision and the email is from Blizzard.

Since Diablo IV is already on Game Pass, the next games could be remasters. For example, Diablo II: Resurrected or Warcraft III: Reforged. Possibly Starcraft, Diablo III, or Overwatch 2 perks (OW2 won’t be coming because it uses a free-to-play model). Or maybe World of Warcraft, although there’s an important factor here. The PC Game Pass is $12 a month and the WoW subscription is $15. Maybe they could offer some kind of discount.

We think the reason Blizzard’s free Game Pass code is being released now is because Gamescom is a month away, and it’s during that event that Microsoft might announce that it’s adding more games from Activision Blizzard’s lineup to Xbox Game Pass. After all, this will be the European E3…
