Worldwide Technical Issues: Disruptions at Airports and Banks

TECH NEWS – A global IT issue is causing disruptions across various sectors worldwide. Aviation is also affected, and Budapest Airport has responded to the situation.

Significant IT problems are causing outages in multiple industries worldwide, including banks, media companies, and airlines, as reported by the BBC. Initial information suggested that the issues originated from Microsoft’s software, but The Verge reported that a faulty update from the cybersecurity company CrowdStrike is causing blue screens of death on Windows systems and servers. CrowdStrike provides security solutions for many companies, and American Airlines identified them as the source of the problems.

Budapest Airport stated that due to the international IT issue, several airlines’ check-in systems have failed, leading to flight delays, congestion, and longer waiting times at Liszt Ferenc International Airport. (This is also common during the summer season.) Affected airlines include Eurowings, Ryanair, and Wizz Air. Several airlines have started manual check-in procedures. The airport is informing passengers about the situation via loudspeakers. Budapest Airport asks departing passengers to enter the terminal building without companions and to monitor flight information through their airline’s app or the bud.hu website.

In Spain, all airports are experiencing disruptions, and issues have also arisen at Edinburgh Airport in Scotland – Ryanair has warned of potential disruptions. The airline advises everyone to check flight information via the Ryanair app.

Information received indicates that a major insurance company’s office in Budapest has also shut down.

According to the BBC, a railway company in the UK has also warned passengers of disruptions due to “widespread IT problems,” the British Sky News channel has gone offline, and delays have occurred at Berlin Airport due to technical problems affecting check-in.
