New Subscription Levels Coming to Xbox Game Pass?! Microsoft’s Plans Leaked!

According to the latest insider news, more new Xbox Game Pass tiers are on the way, including a cloud gaming-only option and possibly a family membership.

Microsoft is reportedly looking into introducing more new Xbox Game Pass tiers. These include cloud-only and ad-supported tiers, according to Windows Central sources. As well as possibly the return of the family subscription option.

Microsoft is reportedly working on a cloud gaming-only Game Pass tier that would be relatively cheap and accessible. This is because users shouldn’t have a console.

Allegedly, subscribers to this tier would also be able to purchase digital games.

This would tie in with Microsoft’s plan to allow gamers to stream titles they own through Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Windows Central also claimed to have heard “very cautious rumours” that the Xbox Game Pass Friends and Family Plan could return in some form.

Testing of the family membership, which allowed five people to get a single subscription for $24.99 – a price allegedly considered too generous by the publishers – took place in eight countries between the summer of 2022 and 2023.

Microsoft previously said it was exploring the possibility of offering access to Game Pass in exchange for viewing advertisements. However, according to Windows Central, the company is not currently actively working on an ad-based subscription tier.

Earlier this month, Microsoft raised the prices of Xbox Game Pass. It also announced plans to introduce a new Standard subscription tier that does not include day-one releases.

Modern Warfare 3 reportedly joins Game Pass for console and PC later this week. Black Ops 6 will be the first Call of Duty title to be immediately included in the subscription service on the day of its release, October 25, 2024.
