The first season of Fallout’s Amazon series has brought renewed attention to the Bethesda (Microsoft) franchise, so it’s no surprise that the mod for Fallout 4, which offers a full remake announced back in 2019, is also getting attention.
Team Folon has been working on Fallout: London for half a decade now, so it’s slowly making its way to the finish line. Originally, the full conversion mod was going to be released in the spring, around April, which was the target date, but that didn’t work out because Bethesda Game Studios does what Bethesda Game Studios does best, and two years after the announcement, they suddenly announced that they had a next-gen update for Fallout 4, which is what it was. It was huge, and it still had bugs that Todd Howard’s studio couldn’t fix after all this time (like VATS still being below average).
The mod has gotten so much attention that it has its own Wikipedia page, and we’ve even covered how big people have gotten into voice acting (like two former Who’s there, Doc? characters and the Speaker of the UK House of Commons). Fallout: London doesn’t have a release date yet, but the latest news from the developers on Reddit suggests that they’re not far off. This means that the release date is maybe five days away. Five years is out of the question, because that’s how long Fallout: London was made, and Team Folon won’t take that long to make the mod again. Others have speculated that the Fallout: London Discord server has gone into a five-minute slow mode because so many messages have popped up that it’s hard to keep up.
Either way, the goal is close. Now we just have to be patient. That shouldn’t be hard.
