Ubisoft’s Unyielding Determination: Doubling Down on Star Wars Outlaws’ Marketing!

Despite the critical response to the ten-minute gameplay video, despite the concerns of an analyst from an American bank, Yves Guillemot’s team is not backing down!

Ubisoft is so confident in Massive Entertainment’s game (perhaps not using the same boring open-world formula we’ve seen in so many other Ubisoft games) that the marketing budget for Star Wars Outlaws is much higher than for any other game to date. The French publisher itself spoke about this in a financial briefing. Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, said that in addition to the money, Massive’s game also has to put in more effort.

Guillemot may not be living in our world, because he believes that the community sentiment is positive, which is the opposite of what we have already reported. Perhaps the CEO is overconfident about the game because he says it is one of the most anticipated titles of the year. That’s a bold statement, because there’s The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, possibly Silent Hill 2 Remake, to name just three other examples. Compared to that, it will be no easy task to stay on its feet.

Of course, Ubisoft has now promised that Star Wars Outlaws will show more gameplay footage of itself in the next little over a month, and Massive believes that these shots will make the audience gyped. In other words, they think they’ll be excited to play the game, but we’ll have to wait and see how that happens, because the impressions of the audience so far seem to be the opposite.

Ubisoft is confident that the next few months will be revolutionary for the company. They have Assassin’s Creed: Shadows coming and will also be supporting their live service titles such as XDefiant and Rainbow Six: Siege, which has been on the road for nearly nine years. Star Wars Outlaws arrives on August 30th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.
