Transformers One Marks a Turning Point

MOVIE NEWS – The latest animated entry in the 38-year-old Transformers franchise brings a new element to the series that has never appeared before. While retaining the most important attributes of the series, namely fantastic action and comedy with well-known characters in the lead roles, there is one huge difference: the story is not set on Earth, but entirely on the Transformers’ home planet, Cybertron.

This planet has appeared briefly in flashes in some episodes of the franchise, but there has never been a complete story set here. Another significant difference is that there are no human characters, only shape-shifting robots.

This step allows the creators to break away from tradition a bit and refresh the material by introducing new plotlines and characters. The creative freedom is enhanced by the fact that it is an origin story: Transformers One tells the story of the initial friendship between Optimus Prime and Megatron, which slowly turns into enmity and then into a galactic war due to their differences. So everything starts from here with a clean slate, allowing for imaginative storytelling.

Meanwhile, the first reviews for Transformers One have arrived. According to Digital Spy, the reception is clearly positive. Matt Neglia from Next Best Picture believes it is the best film in the series, with nuanced character portrayals and a deep exploration of conflicts. Perri Nemiroff from Collider highlights the quality of computer animation, saying that it successfully balances vibrant sharpness, rich textures, and refined details. Wilson from BFTW is so impressed with the film that he says he will watch it again and again.
