Three Major Games Absent from Gamescom!

All three games have a lot of gamers waiting for them, so there’s no point in trying to convince the publishers, as they’re adamant…

These three games are scheduled for release sometime in the fall, and with Gamescom in August, you’d think they’d get a playable demo, but don’t count on it. Both Electronic Arts and Paradox Interactive (the latter of which we’ll come back to in the news later today) are keeping Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 at Gamescom. Konami is the third oddity: they’re keeping quiet about Silent Hill 2 Remake, even though it’s not far from release.

There’s a twist in the story: Electronic Arts WILL be at the Cologne event, but only with one game. EA Sports FC 25 will be shown, and considering the importance of soccer for the German audience (the Bundesliga is a strong regional league, after all), this is understandable in a way. Paradox will be missing Gamescom, which was confirmed to WCCFTech by the publisher’s PR department. Those who want to see a western RPG will not be disappointed: there will be Avowed by Obsidian and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 by Warhorse.

In the case of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, we should add that if you buy BioWare’s next game on Steam, you won’t need the EA app, and the studio confirmed this on Twitter. They’ll be Steam-native, meaning the Steam Deck will support the game (Denuvo might make that a little tricky), and so you won’t need the EA App to play the game. The EA App will replace Origin in 2022.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is coming sometime in the fall, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is coming in Q4 (October-December), and Silent Hill 2 Remake will launch on October 8th.
