Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns: It’s Going to Be Pretty Expensive for a DLC! [VIDEO]

The rumors weren’t wrong this time, so not only will there be new characters in Mortal Kombat 1, but the story will also be expanded, although we wonder if NetherRealm’s DLC is really worth that much…

Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios have confirmed that a major content add-on, Khaos Reigns, is coming, adding new chapters to the story as well as Kombat Pack 2. If you missed out on the first pack, there will also be a pack available for purchase. Kombat Pack 2 won’t be available separately, so we’re seeing some pretty cheeky bundling, so you’ll only be able to access Ghostface from the Scream movies, T-1000 from the Terminator movies, Conan from Conan the Barbarian, and Noob Saibot, Sector, and Cyrax with story-related content. Pre-orders will include four skins (Wedding Scorpion, Empress Mileena, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Sub-Zero and Noob Saibot).

Khaos Reigns continues the game’s storyline, with the Titan Havik invading from another timeline with the goal of throwing all worlds into chaos. (Not Shinnok, then; that was the rumor.) Liu Kang must rally his team to save the new era, or anarchy will follow. There will also be a free update, Animality, when Khaos Reigns is released. This will bring back the Animality finishing moves seen in Mortal Kombat 3. A free skin has also surfaced that is already in the game. It’s the MK 95 Scorpion skin, inspired by the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie.

Mortal Kombat: Khaos Reigns will be released on September 24th for PlayStation 5, Xbox series, PC and Nintendo Switch. We’ll also talk about the price. On Nintendo Switch you’ll have to pay $40, but on the other three platforms you’ll have to pay even more: $50, which is a lot of money! Are they out of their minds?
