MOVIE NEWS – During the Marvel Studios SDCC panel, not much new information was shared about the upcoming Fantastic Four film, but a significant update was announced regarding the film’s title for next year. Instead of simply being named after Marvel’s first family, the official title will be Fantastic Four: First Steps.
The panel also showcased some test footage and designs from the movie, which described Galactus’ appearance as having a very “steampunk” aesthetic. The test footage hinted at Galactus “peering through a building,” suggesting that the cosmic entity will be as gigantic as fans anticipate.
The Fantastic Four Arrives in Theaters in 2025 as Part of Phase Six of the MCU
Marvel chief Kevin Feige is just as thrilled as anyone to finally introduce The Fantastic Four into the MCU, previously hinting that Marvel’s First Family would soon join the ranks of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange on the big screen.
“I’m incredibly excited about this because I believe these characters are foundational, legendary pillars of the Marvel Universe that we haven’t had the chance to fully explore or play with outside of Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness and a few fun teases before, in the way we’re doing it in this film. So I’m extremely excited about that.”
Directed by Matt Shakman, The Fantastic Four stars Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, The Mandalorian) as Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby (The Crown, Mission: Impossible – Fallout) as Sue Storm, aka The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things, Gladiator 2) as Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) as Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, Julia Garner (Ozark) as The Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson (The Witch, The Green Knight) as Galactus. The supporting cast includes John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, and Paul Walter Hauser.
The Fantastic Four is scheduled for release on July 25, 2025, as part of Phase Six of the MCU. In the meantime, the franchise continues with Phase 5’s Deadpool & Wolverine, which is now in theaters and has received rave reviews from most critics.
