“Impossible” Show to Close the Paris Olympics – This Celebrity Could Be the Star of the Ceremony!

MOVIE NEWS – The Paris Olympics will end with an epic show that sounds like a perfect opportunity for a “missions impossible” specialist…

Although the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are still in full swing, many are already preparing for the 2028 Games, which will be held in Los Angeles, California. According to tradition, the host of the current Olympic Games hands over the symbolic title to the next city at a large-scale closing ceremony. The latter is planned for August 11 this year. Since Los Angeles is so often associated with movie attractions, it makes sense that the celebration should have a bit of a Hollywood feel.

Rumour has it that Hollywood’s most daring legend will be the show’s star: Tom Cruise.

According to Deadline, Tom Cruise is expected to literally “jump in” when Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo hands over the Olympic flag to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Cruise has already been spotted during the Olympic Games watching various sports during a break from filming Mission: Impossible 8. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but according to Deadline, fans can expect a “big Hollywood production.”

The Paris Olympics is an excellent stage for Tom Cruise

Host cities often like to include a bit of pop culture representation in Olympic ceremonies. At the 2012 London Olympics, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the James Bond films and the release of Skyfall, Daniel Craig starred as James Bond in a special short film accompanying Queen Elizabeth to the Olympic ceremony. Given that Tom Cruise is known for pushing the limits with death-defying stunts and impressive displays of skill in Mission: Impossible and Top Gun, he certainly seems like a fitting choice for the closing ceremony.

The 2028 Summer Olympics will be held in Los Angeles from July 14 to July 30. This will be the third time that the city hosts the Olympics. This happened for the first time in 1932 and for the second time in 1984. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will host the opening ceremonies. It will be the first stadium to host three different Olympic opening ceremonies. Currently, the 2024 Olympics have scored an enormous victory in viewership, increasing by more than 60% compared to the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, which were postponed due to the pandemic. This suggests that much attention will be paid to the closing ceremony. Los Angeles is undoubtedly gearing up for a big hit. Acquiring a movie star of Tom Cruise’s stature is a headline-grabber, but Cruise is believed to have already filmed himself skydiving and climbing the Hollywood Sign. It sounds a lot like he’s about to pull off a Mission: Impossible-style stunt at the event.

Meanwhile, Cruise is busy working on the next Mission: Impossible movie, which will be released in theatres on May 23, 2025. The film doesn’t have a specific title yet, as they ditched the title “Dead Reckoning Part 2” last year.
