Who Will Be the New Horseman of the Apocalypse in the New Darksiders? [VIDEO]

THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games are working on a new Darksiders game, and since the first installment of the franchise (and the second a few years later) refreshed the gaming industry a decade and a half ago, hopefully history will repeat itself with this one.

The teaser video doesn’t tell us much, as the text in the description only says “Prepare to ride again…”. Will we be revealing anything else at this point in the story? No.” And that’s about it! But since we’re looking at three burning “faces”, these could be the three numbered episodes of Darksiders, so we’re very suspicious that Darksiders 4 is what Gunfire Games is working on. The top comment in the YouTube video essentially begs for it, so the audience will probably get what they expect…

Darksiders was first released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in early January 2010 (!), followed by a PC port in September. A warmastered update made it available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in November 2016, and it was released for Wii U in May 2017 and Nintendo Switch in April 2019 with War as the rider. In August 2012, Darksiders II arrived on PS3, X360 and PC (with a rather expensive budget of $50 million at the time), followed by Wii U in November. The Deathinitive Edition remaster came in the fall of 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, and in 2019 for Switch, but there was also a Google Stadium release (2021). The rider here was Death.

Compared to the first two installments (which were developed by Vigil Games), Darksiders III was created by Gunfire Games. It was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in November 2018, and will be released on Nintendo Switch and Google Stadium in September 2021. The rider here was Fury. The fourth, Strife, appeared in a spinoff, Darksiders Genesis (December 2019: PC, Google Stadia; February 2020: PlayStation 4, Xbox One).

No name or target platforms have been announced for the new Darksiders.
